My Mother Had Every Doubt You Have, and She Never Missed a Cycle
Three years ago money was tight in Brazil and she signed up to Natura wanting a little extra. She is on the third level of six now, and that decision is one of the main reasons she is doing well today.

She was not brave about it. She had the same questions you have, asked them out loud, and started anyway.
Three years ago my mother wanted a little extra money.
There was no plan behind it and no moment she could point to. Things were tight in Brazil, one income in that house was not covering what a house costs, and someone told her about Natura. She had never sold anything in her life, and she had every single doubt you are carrying right now.
She signed up on the last day of August 2023.
She has not missed a cycle since.
The questions she had are the questions you have
Is this a pyramid scheme. Am I going to have to pester my friends and my family. What if I buy the products and nobody buys them from me. Do I even know how to do this, having never sold anything.
Every one of those is a fair question and she asked all of them. Nobody gave her a clean answer, because there is not one that arrives before you try.
What she did instead was make the first step small enough that being wrong about it would not have hurt her. One order, from a catalog, of things people around her already buy. If it had gone badly she would have been out one order.
She did not wait for the doubt to clear. She made the doubt cheap.
She started in a bad year, and that was the point
People imagine you launch something when conditions are good. My mother started because they were not.
In December 2023, a few months after she registered, 77.6% of Brazilian families were carrying debt according to the CNC national survey. That was the water she was swimming in. The pressure has not eased since: by July 2026 the same survey put it at 82%, the highest reading it has recorded and three and a half points worse than a year earlier.
One income in that economy is a single point of failure. If it stops, or if prices simply move faster than it does, there is nothing else holding the floor up. Most people know this. Almost nobody acts on it, because the day you most need a second stream is exactly the day you have the least energy to go and build one.
She built hers on the days she had the least energy. That is why it was there when she needed it.

Three years, twenty-four cycles, and a silver badge
Natura ranks its consultants across six levels, and every consultant starts at the bottom of that ladder. My mother is on the third one now. Prata. Silver.
I went into her account this month to set up the online store she had never had, and while I was in there I scrolled her order history all the way to the bottom, mostly out of curiosity. Twenty-four orders. Twenty-four consecutive cycles, from May 2025 through August 2026, with one in every single one and no gaps anywhere. That is as far back as her portal will render, so twenty-four is the floor rather than the total.
A Natura cycle runs about three weeks, nineteen of them a year. Skipping one costs nothing on the day, which is what makes skipping one so easy, and it is where nearly everybody who quits actually quits. She has never once done it.
She also got to the third level of six without recruiting anyone. She has no team. Her account is not even permitted to register another consultant. Everything she has built came from selling products to people who wanted the products, which is the only version of this that was ever worth doing.
And the money did what she hoped it would do. It kept things going for three years, through a stretch when things going was not guaranteed, and she would tell you it is one of the main reasons she is doing well today. I will not put a figure on that, because a figure from one life in one currency tells you nothing about yours. It was not a hobby.
The industry is real, and it is not magic
Direct selling in Brazil moved around R$50 billion in 2024, growing 6.3%, across roughly three million people, which makes it the seventh largest market of its kind in the world and the largest in Latin America. Natura has been running on this model since 1969, Avon for far longer, and in Brazil the two now come through a single consultancy, so my mother's catalog carries both.
Three million people are not all being fooled. This is a distribution model and a real one: instead of a shelf in a shop, the shelf is a person somebody already trusts.
That does not make it easy money, and the floor is worth knowing before you decide anything. The FTC 2024 staff report reviewed seventy companies and found most participants earn under a thousand dollars a year before expenses. Most people who sign up never build anything.
What separates the ones who do is unglamorous. They keep going after the interest wears off. My mother is proof that this is something a woman in the interior of São Paulo who had never sold anything can learn in her own time, and not a talent you are issued at birth or a personality you have to put on.
I sell MAKE Wellness in Canada, on another continent, in another currency, under another regulator. Nothing about our two businesses matches except the part that decides how they turn out. That is why the same thing I would teach her, I can teach you whether you are in Belo Horizonte or Burnaby. The company is the smallest variable in the equation.
Start where she started
If you are in Brazil and you want to buy from her, her store is here. Natura ships it and handles the payment, and she gets credited.
If you are in Brazil and you want to do what she did, she can walk you through it, in Portuguese, on WhatsApp, having done it every cycle for three years. Use the form below. It reaches me and I hand it straight to her, and I earn nothing either way.
If you are anywhere else, the company near you will not be Natura and it does not need to be. Come and look at what I do and how it actually pays, with no income promises attached, and you will get the same thing she gives people: pick something honest, learn it properly, and be the person who still shows up in the window on the week it feels pointless.
Three years ago my mother wanted a little extra money and had no idea whether any of this would work. That is the same information you are holding right now, and she is three levels up the ladder with it.

FAQ
I have no sales experience and I hate the idea of selling. Can I still do this?
My mother had never sold anything. What she does is not the thing people picture when they hear "selling", which is talking somebody into wanting something. She carries products her neighbours were already buying, and she is the person they buy them from. If that still sounds like too much, start as a customer and find out whether you like the products enough to mention them to anyone. Plenty of people who end up good at this started exactly there.
Do I have to recruit people or build a team?
No, and she is the proof. She reached the third level of six on product sales alone, with no team and no permission on her account to register anybody. Recruiting is a separate activity some people choose. It is not the business, and anyone who tells you it is has told you something about theirs.
How much does your mother earn?
That is hers, and a number from one life in one currency would tell you nothing useful about what yours would be. What I will say is that it matters in her house, that it arrives every cycle instead of in one good month, and that three years of it is one of the main reasons she is doing well today.
Is Natura an MLM?
Natura is a direct selling company with a growth plan and levels, so the family resemblance is real and you deserve the accurate word rather than the marketing one. What my mother runs is resale: she buys from the catalog at consultant price, sells at the public price, and the difference is her margin. No team, no downline, no recruiting. The test that actually matters is whether people would buy the product with no income opportunity attached, and in her case they have been doing that for three years.
What is the smallest way to start?
One order of things you would use yourself, or that people around you already buy. That is how she started and it is still the right first move, because it makes the whole question cheap to answer. You find out how you feel about it having risked almost nothing.
I am in Brazil and I want to talk to her. What actually happens?
Fill in the form above and it reaches me by email. I pass it to my mother and she messages you on WhatsApp in Portuguese. She walks you through registering and, more importantly, through your first order, because a signup nobody follows up on is where most people in this industry stop. Asking costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
What if I am not in Brazil?
Her catalog will not reach you. What I sell in Canada is MAKE Wellness, and the honest version of how it works sits on one page with no income promises attached. The part worth learning from my mother travels further than either company does.
Talk to my mother
She works out of Hortolândia, in the interior of São Paulo, and answers in Portuguese on WhatsApp. I earn nothing from any of this. The form reaches me and I hand it to her the same day.
Her store is live and you can buy from it right now without speaking to anyone, because Natura ships it and takes the payment. If you would rather she help you choose, leave your details here.
By submitting, you are asking Maria Aparecida (Neide), a Natura and Avon consultant in Brazil, to contact you. I pass her your name, email, WhatsApp and city, and nothing else. · Privacy

Why You Should Consider Direct Selling in 2026
104 million people in 55 countries are doing this, and the research on what they actually gain is more interesting than the argument about it. The global case for starting a small stream this year.
Network Marketing in Canada: Building a Team From Scratch
MAKE Wellness only opened in Canada on July 1, 2026, which means I am early, with no local proof and no network. That sounds like a disadvantage. I think it might be the opposite.
A Month in Brazil, and What I Found When I Came Back
I went home to Brazil for most of July and barely worked the business. I came back to two new people on my team, and what that taught me about building slowly.
