From Buying to Building: What the First Year Actually Looks Like
Most people quit a thing like this in year one because they showed up expecting year three. Here is the unglamorous shape of the first twelve months, the ladder underneath it, and why slow is the point.

The fastest way to quit something is to measure year one against the highlight reel of year five. I have done it. I am trying not to do it again.
There is a moment that kills more of these than anything else, and it has nothing to do with the product or the company. It is the moment, somewhere around month two or three, when the gap between the effort you are putting in and the result you can see is at its widest, and a quiet voice says this isn't working. It is not that the person was lazy or fooled. It is that they walked in carrying a picture of where this goes and tried to stand inside that picture on day forty. Nobody told them what the first year actually feels like.
The shift is smaller than it sounds
The move from being a customer to being a builder is not a leap. It is barely a step. You were already buying the thing. You were already, now and then, telling someone it was good. The only thing that changes is that you start doing the second part on purpose, and you let the recommendation be a thing you tend rather than a thing that happens by accident. Anyone selling you a more dramatic version of it, a reinvention, a new identity, a leap of faith, is selling the drama, not the work.
The work itself is almost boringly small. It is the same forty-five-second recommendation I would make for free, made a little more often, to people who actually asked, written down once or twice as a blog post so it keeps working while I sleep. That is the engine. It does not look like anything for a long time.

It helps to know there is a structure under the slowness, so the early months feel like climbing rather than wandering.
In MAKE, like most of these, there is a rank ladder, and the early rungs have plain names, Rising, Senior, Premier. You do not buy your way up them. Each rung is just a higher level of actual product going to actual customers in a given month, and reaching Premier is the rung where the rate steps up and product credits begin. The ladder is useful as a map of what to do next, not as a forecast of what you will make. It tells you the next concrete thing, get a few more genuine customers this month than last, and it stays quiet about outcomes, which is how a map should behave.
What the ladder will not show you is the timeline, and the timeline is the part that matters most. A real version of this is a two to five year build, not a ninety-day sprint.

The slowness is not the obstacle in front of the thing. It is the thing.
Anything that compounds looks like nothing for a long time and then looks like everything, and the entire game is staying in it through the long flat part where it looks like nothing. That is true of a single small income stream, of a body in the gym, of a skill, of a marriage. The people who get the year-five highlight reel are almost never more talented than the ones who quit at month three. They are just the ones who kept making the small deposit after it stopped feeling like it mattered, because they understood that the boring middle is where the whole thing is actually being built.
So in year one, the goal is not a number. The goal is to still be doing the small thing in month twelve, having quietly built the habit of it, with a few real customers who stuck and maybe one person who wants to do their own version. That is a successful first year. It will not photograph well. It is the foundation the photogenic part eventually sits on.

I am early in my own year one. MAKE is brand new in Canada, the first market it has opened outside the United States, I got consistent on the products in the months before that, and I am at the bottom of the ladder I just described, with no trip and no milestone yet.
If you start your own, measure it against the right thing. Not the highlight reel. The deposit. Did you make the small recommendation this week, to someone who asked, and write it down somewhere it can keep working. If yes, year one is going exactly the way it is supposed to, which is to say slowly, which is to say correctly.

FAQ
What does Premier rank actually require to reach?
Premier is the rung where the commission rate steps up and product credits begin. You reach it by hitting a higher volume of product moving to real customers each month - not by recruiting or buying inventory. It's a usage milestone, not a purchase milestone.
How do you know if month three is normal or a real sign?
The gap between effort and visible result is widest at month two or three - that's structural, not personal. If you're still making genuine recommendations to people who asked, you're on track. The signal to worry about isn't slowness; it's stopping the small action entirely.
Can you build this alongside a full-time job?
The engine here is a forty-five-second recommendation made on purpose, written down once so it keeps working. There's no event schedule, no commute, no quota clock. It fits inside a normal week because the work is genuinely small - the compounding is what takes time, not the daily input.
Is MAKE Wellness available outside Canada and the US?
As of now, Canada is the first market outside the United States that MAKE has opened. I don't have a confirmed timeline for other countries, but it's worth checking directly on their site if you're elsewhere.
What's a realistic timeline before this feels like it's working?
Two to five years, not ninety days. Year one success means still showing up in month twelve with a handful of real customers and one person curious about doing their own version. Anything that photographs well before that is probably a different game.
