The company I build with hands out homework. Every month MAKE Wellness names a Book of the Month, the whole affiliate community reads it together, and July's pick is The Go-Giver by Bob Burg and John David Mann. I want to show you what July looks like from inside this company, then teach you the one lesson from the book that I think deserves a spot in your week, whether you ever buy a peptide or not.

What July looks like from the inside

Start with what touches you directly if you have been curious about the products. From July 1 to 31, MAKE is running a first-order promotion: $25 off your first order of $99 or more, applied automatically when you shop through my link. No code to type. It is for new customers only, it cannot be combined with other short-term promos, and it stacks with the 10% Subscribe & Save discount. Canadians currently get free shipping on top, for a limited time. If you were already planning to try a stack like the MAKE 3 Breakthrough, this is the month where the math is kindest. Click here to browse with the discount applied.

The company side of July is busy too. As of July 1, MAKE Wellness is officially on TikTok Shop, which tells you something about where it thinks the next wave of customers lives. And Direct Selling News, the trade publication that covers this industry, gave MAKE its Bravo Growth Award. Awards do not make a product work, but they do tell you the wider industry is watching this company closely.

Leaderboards, Hawaii, and structured encouragement

The thing that surprised me most when I joined in May was how much of this culture is built on celebration. Less of the cringe from the old stereotypes than I braced for. Scoreboards, milestones, and a company that throws a small parade every time somebody keeps a promise to themselves.

Right now the affiliate side of MAKE has a points leaderboard called MAKE Memories tracking progress toward the next incentive trip: Waikoloa, Hawaii. There is a program called MAKE Moments that unlocks a $500 gift card for new affiliates who reach the Premier qualification in their first full month. For July there is an America 250 promotion on the affiliate side, a $250 bonus for referring five new people whose first order is one of two qualifying bundles, the MAKE 3 Breakthrough or the Launch Box, tied to the 250th anniversary of the United States. Builder Academy 2027, an immersive leadership experience, was just announced. MAKE Summit 2026 is on the calendar as an affiliate retreat. And every Monday night at 6PM Mountain Time there is a company-wide call anyone on the team can join.

Somebody kept a promise to themselves this week. This is what it looks like from inside.

I am nowhere near the top of any of those leaderboards. I signed up in May, and my team is exactly one person. I am telling you about them because the scaffolding itself is the story: a company that runs book clubs, weekly calls, recognition programs, and trips is a company betting that the way its people grow matters as much as what they sell.

The book: The Go-Giver

MAKE's announcement for July says it plainly: the way you build matters. That is why the July pick is The Go-Giver.

If you have never read it, it is a small book, a parable rather than a manual. Joe is an ambitious salesman having a bad quarter. He goes looking for leverage and instead meets Pindar, a mentor who introduces him to people at the top of their fields: a restaurateur, a CEO, a financial advisor, a real estate broker. Four of the laws arrive through them; the fifth Pindar saves to deliver himself. The five:

  1. The Law of Value. Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment.
  2. The Law of Compensation. Your income is determined by how many people you serve and how well you serve them.
  3. The Law of Influence. Your influence is determined by how abundantly you place other people's interests first.
  4. The Law of Authenticity. The most valuable gift you have to offer is yourself.
  5. The Law of Receptivity. The key to effective giving is to stay open to receiving.

You can read the whole thing in two evenings. The laws sound soft until you try to practice one, and then they turn out to be the hardest business advice you have ever taken.

The Law of Value, tried at home

The first law is the one I keep chewing on, so it is the one I will teach.

Your price is what you charge. Your value is what the other person walks away with. The Law of Value says the distance between those two numbers is your real worth, and that the distance should run in the other person's favour, far enough to embarrass you.

My first reaction was that this is a recipe for going broke. My second was to check it against this site, where I already live by it without having named it. The free recipe book on this site took real work to make and costs nothing, ever. My review of the products spends its opening stretch telling you who should not buy them, which is a strange sales technique unless you understand what it buys: a reader who believes the rest of the page. The wellness quiz ends in a suggestion, and most people who take it never spend a dollar with me. Fine. The point of all of it is that you should leave this site with more than you brought, every single visit, purchase or no purchase.

So the lesson, the one thing I want you to do with this: pick one exchange this week and overdeliver into it, on purpose. If you sell something, add the thing the buyer did not know to ask for. If you are asking for a favour, arrive having already done one. For the writers: answer the question under the question. Do it once, on purpose, and notice that it does not feel like losing. That noticing is the book working on you.

One friend handing a red hardcover book across a sunlit kitchen table to another who receives it smiling
The whole lesson in one gesture: hand over more than they asked for.

The fifth law is the twist that keeps the whole thing from collapsing into martyrdom. Giving only works if you stay open to receiving. Most of us are worse at that half, and the book knows it.

If you read it this July, you will be reading it alongside the affiliate group, plus me. Twenty-eight thousand people on the same parable in the same month was not what I expected from a supplement company.

The part where I invite you

I came into direct selling carrying every stereotype you probably carry now. What I found at MAKE Wellness was closer to a gym membership for building a small business: products people reorder month after month, training on a schedule, a reading list, and a room full of people cheering for effort. I wrote about how this industry changed if you want the longer version.

If any of this pulls at you, two doors. Try the products as a customer while the $25 first-order discount is on through July 31. Or, if the building side is what caught your attention, here is how I work with people. I will tell you the same thing there that I tell you here: most affiliates in direct selling earn modest or no income, MAKE itself guarantees nobody an income, and the only good reason to start is that you already love the product and want to own a piece of what you spend. The book club is free either way.
